The City of Hamilton is proud to offer beautiful public parks and outdoor spaces that provide room to play, relax, and connect as a community. Our parks system includes neighborhood playgrounds, walking and biking paths, ball fields, a dedicated dog park, and scenic spots along Pecan Creek.

Whether you're planning a family picnic, walking the dog, watching youth sports, or simply enjoying small-town Texas charm, Hamilton’s parks are here for you.

Pecan Creek Park & Disc Golf

Pecan Creek Park is a scenic green space that follows Pecan Creek through Hamilton, stretching from Kooken Field to the baseball fields. The park includes open lawns and wooded areas, playground space, ball fields, and walking paths, along with the historic Bulman Bridge that adds character and charm.

The park also features an 18-hole disc golf course, a skate park area, and plenty of room to walk, bike, or simply enjoy the shade along the creek. It’s a favorite spot for a relaxing stroll, birdwatching, and youth sports.

For disc golfers, a course map and scorecard are available for download on the city website. When special events are scheduled, Pecan Creek Park is also a popular fireworks viewing location.

Schrank Pavilion Park

Located near downtown Hamilton, Schrank Pavilion Park serves as a central gathering spot for community events and celebrations. The park’s open pavilion is ideal for public gatherings, local festivals, and family activities.

With shaded seating and a convenient downtown location, Schrank Pavilion Park offers an easy place to relax, listen to music, or enjoy Hamilton’s small-town charm.

  • Typical uses: Markets, small concerts, community celebrations

Schadler Meadow Park

As Hamilton’s oldest park, Schadler Meadow Park holds a special place in the community. Generations of families have enjoyed gathering here to share picnics, stories, and memories.

The park offers scenic picnic areas overlooking the river and a walking path that winds through the meadow. It’s a peaceful place to sit, look out over the water, and experience the natural beauty that has welcomed visitors for decades.

Horton Park & Hamilton Dog Park

Horton Park is a neighborhood green space conveniently located near E. Coke Street and S. Bouldin Street, close to Brookshire Brothers and the Lions Club. The park has been recently revitalized to better serve local families and visitors.

Features include a modern playground, picnic tables, and a paved walking and biking loop that circles the park. Horton Park is also home to the Hamilton Dog Park and the Hamilton Lady Bulldog softball field, making it a busy, family-friendly place to burn off energy and enjoy the outdoors.

  • Amenities: Playground, picnic tables, loop trail, dog park, softball field
  • Great for: Families, travelers looking for a pit stop, and dog owners

Hamilton Dog Park

The Hamilton Dog Park, located within Horton Park, is a dedicated space where dogs can run off leash in a safe, fenced environment. The park includes open play areas and shaded spots for rest, plus waste-bag stations to encourage responsible use.

It’s a popular stop for local residents and visitors alike—especially those traveling through Hamilton who want their four-legged friends to stretch their legs.

City Swimming Pool (Temporarily Closed)

Located on E. Pierson Street, the Hamilton City Pool covers approximately 3,700 square feet and has been a cherished part of the community since its original construction in the 1930s. For generations, the pool has offered a refreshing escape on hot summer days and a place for families and friends to gather and make memories.

Outside food and beverages have traditionally been welcome in the park and pool area, creating a relaxed, picnic-style atmosphere around the water.

Current status: The pool is temporarily closed. The City of Hamilton is actively exploring revitalization and improvement options to restore this historic community space for future enjoyment. Updates will be shared as planning progresses on this page and through official city channels.

Youth Sports & Partner Programs

Several community partners work alongside the City of Hamilton to provide athletic and recreational opportunities for residents.

Hamilton County Youth Athletic Association (HCYAA)

The Hamilton County Youth Athletic Association offers seasonal sports for children, including football, soccer, T-ball, and other youth programs. HCYAA activities help kids stay active, build teamwork skills, and have fun with friends.

Other Outdoor Amenities

In addition to our city parks, Hamilton offers several other ways to enjoy the outdoors:

  • Skate Park: Located at Pecan Creek Park, the skate area gives riders a place to practice tricks and spend time with friends.
  • City Lake: A peaceful spot for fishing, walking along the water, and taking in the scenery on the edge of town.
  • Regional Hunting & Fishing: Hamilton County is known for its outdoor recreation opportunities. While many locations are privately operated, Hamilton serves as a convenient base for exploring the surrounding countryside.
