June 12, 2025 Chlorine Conversion:
Update from Upper Leon: "Upper Leon River Municipal Water District will be starting the process of converting our primary disinfectant from chloramine to free chlorine as part of a system maintenance procedure beginning June 12, 2025. Although we will begin the conversion at the Water Treatment Plant on June 12, you will most likely not see any change in your systems for several days. The District will be in contact with City and System personnel to update them on both steps of the conversion process when respective residuals have reached master meters. Many of you have already been contacted about this conversion, but we wanted to ensure all personnel involved in your systems are also aware. The process will be reversed in approximately 30 days.
We last performed a disinfectant conversion in September of last year, so this will be familiar to many of you. This system maintenance procedure is to assist all systems to maintain a disinfectant residual through the extent of their system, especially as we begin to enter warmer Summer months when water properties begin to change. The District will contact the TCEQ to make them aware of the planned conversion."
As of January 2025, the City of Hamilton has fully complied with TCEQ standards for all Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs). Our quarterly results have been in compliance throughout the entirety of 2024, and we are now meeting the annual average compliance starting in 2025. These figures are verified on the Drinking Water Watch website. You can access the quarterly TTHM sample averages here: https://tinyurl.com/mrx75az6; and the annual TTHM sample averages here: https://tinyurl.com/mpzatkz8
