About the Museum

The Hamilton County Historical Museum is housed in the former Hamilton County Jail. The two-story building was constructed in 1938 and served as the county’s correctional facility until 1996—today it is home to the Museum’s main collection.

The adjacent fire station houses one of two historic fire trucks from the past. The Museum is also working to renovate the old candle factory next door and develop the Museum Annex, where a collection previously housed at the County Courthouse is now located.
