The City of Hamilton welcomes residents who want to make a positive difference in the community by serving on City boards, commissions, and advisory committees. Even when there are no current vacancies, we encourage interested residents to submit an application so it can be considered as openings arise.
Serving on a City board is a meaningful way to:
- Share your skills, experience, and perspective
- Help guide local projects, programs, and policies
- Support the long-term strength and vitality of Hamilton
General Expectations for Board Members
Although each board or commission may have its own specific duties or qualifications, most members are generally expected to:
- Reside within the City of Hamilton or Hamilton County, unless additional residency requirements apply
- Serve in a voluntary capacity for an appointed term, typically two years
- Attend regular meetings and any special meetings that may be called
- Review meeting materials in advance and participate actively in discussions and decisions
- Work respectfully with fellow board members, City staff, and the public
Some boards and commissions may have additional eligibility requirements established by ordinance, bylaws, or state law. Those requirements will be addressed during the application and appointment process.
Applications are kept on file and reviewed as vacancies occur. If you are interested in serving, we encourage you to apply and help support a strong and engaged Hamilton community.
