The City of Hamilton is advancing environmental cleanup planning for the former nursing home property at 400 W. Grogan Street through the EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant program.

The Former Nursing Home Brownfields Cleanup Project focuses on the vacant former nursing home located at 400 W. Grogan Street in Hamilton, Texas. The project is intended to address environmental concerns, support public safety, and help prepare the property for future reuse or redevelopment opportunities.

Project documents identify the site as an approximately 16,752-square-foot former nursing home facility with asbestos-containing materials present in portions of the structure, including wall and ceiling systems, vinyl floor tile and mastic, and kitchen linoleum flooring. The recommended cleanup approach is asbestos abatement and removal.

Cleanup Focus

Cleanup activities are focused on the controlled removal of identified asbestos-containing materials in a manner that protects workers, nearby residents, and the environment. The cleanup plan calls for regulated containment, negative pressure systems, proper waste handling, licensed personnel, and independent third-party air monitoring.

Public Safety & Oversight
